Inspiring an Attitude of Gratitude
- Gratitude is acknowledging what we have and being thankful for our blessings. Want to kick off the holiday season and spread the joy of being thankful? We hope you are inspired!
INSPIRE YOUR FRIENDS
Write handwritten letters to each of your friends and tell them how much they mean to you. (Don’t forget to let them know how they have inspired you to be a better person!) Include a special letter with a basket of goodies (homemade brownies and a glass of wine, bath soaps and lotions, a book, or even a small bag of candy,) and leave these on your friends’ front doorsteps. And, don’t worry if your besties don’t live in town. Send them an unexpected surprise in the mail or a sweet note in a virtual gift card!
INSPIRE YOUR FAMILY
Challenge each family member to find at least one positive moment in each day. While sitting around the dinner table, pass around a journal and ask everyone to write their gratitude for the day in it. After all family members have written in the journal, take turns sharing what you wrote. Keep your completed journals in a special place. And each year, add another journal to your “Collection of Gratitudes.”
INSPIRE SOCIAL MEDIA
Post positive messages and memes, and always be kind. Even a small ounce of graciousness and a thought-filled sentence or two, may mean the world to someone else. When reading, find the positive message. And when posting, look for the light and always find a way to inspire!
INSPIRE THE WORK PLACE
Put a “Wish Jar” in a common area and ask everyone to write secret well-wishes and kudos to others. Share these inspiring messages by posting them on a board or giving shout-outs at team meetings.
INSPIRE THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Buy a bag of river rocks, acrylic gloss paint, paintbrushes in varying sizes, and throw a Christmas Rock Painting Party! Ask neighbors to paint the rocks with a picture that makes them smile. Then, have everyone take their rocks and hide them along the neighborhood’s community pathways. When rocks are found, ask neighbors to hide them in a new location to spread joy to someone else.
